In 2016 the European Commission declared that by 2020 Portugal would have a deficit between 800 thousand and one million in IT experts. And no one even thought a pandemic could happen. Currently, the scenario did not improve. According to IDC Portugal, by 2025, 90% of organizations will lack ICT resources, more specifically, more than 1,15 million professionals will be lacking in Western Europe.
Portugal will be lacking more than 10 thousand experts until 2025. With the prominence that the domestic market does not have the capacity to absorb all IT engineers, so technology is an area with high export interest and the Government must look at the sector strategically.
